Hi there Prospectors!

The ground is frozen and covered with a thick white blanket of snow. Here in Wisconsin we are in the middle of the gold prospecting research season. This is the time we dream, and analyze our prospects of the past year. It is also a good time to read up, whether it be a book or the internet about future prospects. It is also a good time to plan trips and vacations to far away places. The grip of cabin fever can be relieved by building new prospecting equipment.

The January meeting was well attended even with the lousy weather and the Green Bay Packer Playoff game taking place at the time The Greenbush Prospectors were kicking off our meeting. The meeting place did have reception with rabbit ears so the game was watched, but that didn’t receive as much attention as the guest speakers Steve Miller and Steve Livernash. The two Steve’s presented the finest collection of Copper Culture and Silver Fur Trader in the world. Thanks to the two Steve’s for being our guest speakers and sharing their priceless collection that they collected with their metal detectors.

Steve Livernash and Steve Miller will also be doing the presentation at the Greenbush Prospector February meeting with the theme being “Coin and Jewelry Shooting”. The February meeting is also the “Show Your Gold” this is when we show off our gold, so bring your pokes for all to see.

Our February meeting is also “Nugget Mania II”. If you thought there were a lot of nuggets at “Nugget Mania”. This raffle will be better yet with many more nuggets to fill your gold pokes up even more.

Announcements at the January meeting were; “Geo Fest” at Rochester Park in Sheboygan Falls on July 19th and 20th. This will be the home of the 2008 Wisconsin State Gold Panning Championship. Many more details to come. Early spring metal detecting clinic open to all. The date will be determined when it is convenient for the instructors. The Greenbush Prospectors will be doing a Gold and Treasure Show in March of 2009. A target date will soon be set.
